Darcy Holbrook and his partner Molly Lea purchased the North Bendigo property two weeks ago.
But within an hour of the contract going unconditional, a driver crashed into the front fence and carport of the Caledonia Street home.
"I think I laughed when i first saw it," Mr Holbrook said. "There was already renovation plans in the pipeline. It looks like they just had a head start on us."

The driver of the car received an infringement notice after he hit the accelerator instead of the brake, resulting in the crash.
Ray White Bendigo real estate agent Toby Gray, who sold the property, said the situation was definitely a first for him.
"It was just so unbelievable, you had to smile about it," Mr Gray said. "It just goes to show that with everything going on, properties are still selling and cars are still crashing into them."
The couple sorted out the finer details of the contract with the vendor after the crash.
Mr Holbrook said they have received support from family and friends.
"I think the general consensus is that everyone thinks it's funny," he said. "The more people we tell, the more people just laugh.
"A lot of people knew we would be doing some renovation works so that's why they find it funny. I'm a builder, so it won't be outside of my capabilities."
