POLICE are investigating a crash that left two people hospitalised and the westbound lanes of Barnard Street gridlocked for three quarters of an hour this morning.
The intersection of Barnard and View Street has reopened since a white SUV and orange four-wheel drive collided at about 10.30am.
The orange vehicle was turning right into Barnard Street when it and the SUV, which was travelling south on View Street, crashed, Leading Senior Constable Cary Towers said.
"We are still trying to establish the exact circumstances and who was at fault," he said.

Both drivers were taken to Bendigo Hospital for observation.
One driver was experiencing back pain and the other had breathing difficulties, Leading Senior Constable Towers said.
Paramedics also assessed a primary school aged boy at the scene, who did not require treatment.

FIREFIGHTERS, police, ambulance and the Bendigo SES crew are on the scene of a two-car collision at the intersection of Barnard Street and View Street, Bendigo.
View Street is completely blocked off, with police directing traffic through Barnard Street.
Traffic is beginning to back up on the westbound lane of Barnard Street and it is best to avoid the area.
