Firefighters were called to the new hospital about 7.30pm today.
A Country Fire Authority spokesperson said the fire was under control within five minutes.
No-one was injured and the fire was contained to the one room, a Bendigo Health spokesperson said.
Four CFA vehicles responded, three of which were from Bendigo, and one from Golden Square.
The firefighters' response included ventilating the room.
"We'd like to thank staff and the CFA for their swift response," the Bendigo Health spokesperson said.
The health care group will re-accommodate the patient while the affected room is cleaned up.
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
A CFA spokesperson said it was a bed fire.
Police were requested to attend.
