Anne Villiers, from the Kangaroo Flat Uniting Emergency Relief Centre, said about 30 people approached the service for help each day.
She said the organisation wanted to store up a stockpile of sanitary items to ensure they were available when needed.
"There is always a need," Ms Villiers said. "Some of the older women that come in also have teenage girls at home they need to provide for."
Bendigo MP Lisa Chesters said such items were a "basic need for women to live with dignity", but were often overlooked when people made donations.
The donation call comes ahead of International Women's Day, which is held on March 8 each year.
