NCFL - ALL EIGHT CLUBS
THE 2010s for Elmore in the Heathcote District league started with the Bloods among the competition's top flag contenders, but ended with the least amount of senior wins of any club for the decade.
The Bloods of 2010 and 2011 had four chances at getting through to a grand final, but were unsuccessful at each opportunity, losing the second semi-final and preliminary final in both years.
Elmore won 25 of its 38 games during those two years, but only 28 more over the remaining eight seasons of the decade, which adds to the Bloods disappointment of not cashing in on their 2010 and 2011 opportunities.
There were three wooden spoons for the Bloods throughout the decade - 2013 (one win), 2014 (no wins) and 2018 (one win).
As well as their 2010-11 campaigns, the Bloods managed one more finals appearance for the decade in 2016 when they copped an 82-point hiding off Colbinabbin in the elimination final.
That 2016 season also featured Elmore's Danny Brewster winning the HDFL goalkicking with 84 in the home and away season.
Brewster's back half of 2016 was particularly dominant. It included one five-game stretch between rounds 13 and 17 when he kicked bags of six, nine, 10, seven and five goals.
Brewster, who joined the Bloods in 2015 and would go on to coach the club from 2017-19, ended the decade as both Elmore's leading goalkicker with 201 and ranked No.1 for most best player votes (six for being named best, five for second best and so on).
Brewster kicked goals in 56 games for the Bloods, including four double-figure hauls - 12 v Heathcote (round 10, 2016), 11 v Mount Pleasant (round 7, 2016), 10 v Huntly (round 18, 2015) and 10 v White Hills (round 15, 2016).
James Harney with 187 was the only other Elmore player to kick more than 100 goals for the decade, while he was also one of only four players in the competition - along with Hoby Bussey, Jarrod Findlay and Ryan Semmel - to play five inter-league games during the 2010s.
Elmore's best player votes for the decade featured three with more than 100 - Brewster (146), ruckman Jack Hayes (131) and former coach Andy Grant (120).
Hopefully, for the Bloods' sake during the 2020s that begin under new coach Dylan Friedberger they can buck the trend of the past four decades in which their wins have declined from 109 (1980s) to 104 (1990s) to 93 (2010s) to 53 (2010s).
