THE four finalists for BBD's weekend pennant are already locked away with three rounds remaining, but there is still plenty of intrigue at both ends of the ladder.

While reigning premier Bendigo East has a decisive 27-point break at the top of the ladder, just two points separates South Bendigo, Eaglehawk and Kangaroo Flat in the fight for the double chance.
Meanwhile, the battle to avoid the wooden is on in earnest, with the pair of sides on the bottom two rungs - Bendigo and Inglewood - both on 59 points.
The Woodies were stiff not to lift themselves off the bottom after almost pulling off an upset against Kangaroo Flat at home on Saturday.
Scores had been locked together 87-all with one end left to be played between the rinks of Max Rowley (Inglewood) and David Keenan (Kangaroo Flat).

Inglewood won three of the rinks, with skippers Rowley (+2), Grant Jackson (+2) and Dale Jackson (+3) all victorious.
However, the difference was Kangaroo Flat's Barry Anset getting over the top of Rob Day 28-20 in what was a battle of two of this season's top rinks.
The thriller between Inglewood and Kangaroo Flat was the outlier in what was an otherwise mundane round.
The other three matches were decided by margins of 37, 29 and 29 shots.
Eaglehawk made it four wins in a row with a commanding 111-74 victory over Castlemaine that was spearheaded by Darren Burgess' dominant 37-10 win over Greg Podesta.
Bendigo East was far too strong for rivals Bendigo, winning 102-73 at home.
Although beaten, Bendigo did manage to topple the rink of former long-time skipper Ian Ross, who was beaten 21-19 by Leigh Manning.
And South Bendigo avenged its earlier defeat this season to Golden Square, winning 118-89 built on the back of strong performances from the rinks of Mitch Sidebottom (+23) and Brad Holland (+20).
