The rate gives a 20 per cent discount off the general property rate for successful applicants who manage their land in an environmentally sustainable way.
That includes protecting remnant vegetation, fencing off waterways, establishing perennial pastures, controlling salinity or erosion or revegetating with local native plant species.
The LMR is available to properties rated as a farm in the 2019/2020 financial year and are more than 20 hectares (49 acres) in size, or operate a farming business.
Successful applicants must show their plans to undertake environmental protection works on their property during the 2020/21 financial year.
Council estimates about 50 per cent of eligible properties receive the LMR.
If your property was rated as LMR during the 2019/2020 financial year, your LMR status will roll over to the next financial year.
