On a night where South used its Powerplay to double its team score and climb the Premier Division ladder, Berg and Woods were in hot form.
The new lights were switched on at the La Trobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Retreat Road, Flora Hill for the first Saturday meet.
Reigning national open shot put champion, Berg's best of 13.30 metres at Saturday's meet surpassed the centre record of 13.12m for under-20 and open level she achieved at last year's Victoria Country titles.
From Swan Hill, Berg will be a key player for South Bendigo at the country titles in Geelong on the Australia Day holiday weekend.
Woods cleared 4.80m at pole vault to now hold the centre record for under-17 up to open.
The young gun from Kyabram achieved the same mark to hold the residential record when he won gold in the under-18 pole vault at the recently-run Australian All Schools titles in Perth.
Another of South's top distance runners, Archie Reid marked his first hit-out at LUBAC this season by winning the 5000m in 15:35 ahead of University's Matt Buckell, 15:52.
Eureka's Luke Padgham took out the first of the 1500m heats in 4:10.
Fastest in the men's 100m was Shepparton's Antonio Vaitohi in a slick 11.67 from James Miller of Bendigo Harriers in 11.76.
First of the women's 100m heats was won by Abbey Conquer from Bendigo Harriers in 13.69 from Eaglehawk's Jorja Peace, 13.85.
Now competing with Old Melburnians, Fraser Symons marked his return to LUBAC by winning the 400m in 49.49 from Daniel Baldwin of Bendigo Harriers in 51.60.
Eaglehawk's Laura Kadri put in a superb run to win the first of the women's 400m in 62.47, a season-best by 1 1/2 seconds.
South Bendigo's Allie Guillou was seventh on seed times for heat one, but ran 65.97, a season best by two seconds and fourth place.
Another twilight meet is at LUBAC from 6pm next Saturday.
