THE FIRES

* 31 fires currently burning and more than 1.2 million hectares burnt across Victoria

* 18 active fires and 900,000 hectares burnt in East Gippsland

* Six active fires and 200,000 hectares burnt in Hume (which includes the northeast)

* About 3500 properties have no power in the fire affected areas

* According to Victorian Police, 67,000 people have left the fire areas

FIREFIGHTERS AND SUPPORT

* More than 1000 firefighters tackling blazes across the state

* 39 firefighters and 2 liaison officers from the US have joined local crews

* 61 US firefighters and 10 Canadian firefighters will arrive on Wednesday to help

LOSSES

* Two men, Mick Roberts and Fred Becker, have died in the East Gippsland fires

* Victoria Police are investigating whether a road fatality in the state's north-east is the third death from the bushfires

* Premier Daniel Andrews says there are 200 homes lost, but that number is certain to be more than 300

* Four people previously reported as missing have been found

WARNINGS

* Conditions have eased in the fire areas, but the forecast is for spike days on Thursday-Friday

* Victoria's unprecedented disaster declaration for the fire areas remains in place until midnight on January 9

MILITARY SUPPORT

* ADF has made contact with 16 of 18 isolated communities.

* 407 people were evacuated by air from Mallacoota on Sunday, but the smoky conditions have delayed further flights. Altogether, about 1500 people have been evacuated by air or sea

* About 300 people who want to leave Mallacoota remain at the town, with more community meetings scheduled for Monday and HMAS Choules offshore

* HMAS Choules has been delivering supplies and equipment to Mallacoota

GOVERNMENT SUPPORT

* The Victorian government has established Bushfire Recovery Victoria to coordinate the response to the current crisis and also to look at how to manage future bushfire emergencies. Former Victorian Police commissioner Ken Lay will chair the new body, which will start with $50m of funding

* The Victorian government has also donated $2 million to a dedicated relief fund.
