Police found Jedd Lafranchi at a Drysdale service station in May last year after he raised concerns by parking across two bays, beeping his horn and setting off the car alarm.
A breath test revealed a reading of 0.148 and Lafranchi's vehicle was impounded.
Lafranchi told the Bendigo Magistrates' Court he made the mistake of not finding another way home from the pub that night.
He pleaded guilty to exceeding the prescribed concentration of alcohol within three hours of driving.
Magistrate Bruce Cottrill noted Lafranchi's reading was very high, but accepted his plea as an indication of remorse.
Lafranchi was convicted and fined $1000 plus costs, and disqualified from driving for 14 months.
