The former Sandhurst and Melbourne Stars spinner has joined the Thunder as a replacement player for Tanveer Sangha, who is representing Australia at the under-19 World Cup in South Africa.
Nicknamed "The Wizard", Bowe joins a Sydney Thunder squad that was in fourth place on the BBL ladder going into Sunday's round of matches.
Bowe was named in a Thunder squad of 13 for Monday's clash with the Brisbane Heat in Sydney.
"It's an exciting time and if I get my chance, I hope to be able to contribute to the team and pay back the favour," Bowe said.
Under BBL rules, as a replacement player Bowe must be named in the Thunder's squad of 12 on Monday.
He will be competing for a spot in the playing 11 alongside three other spinners - Chris Green, Jonathan Cook and Ajun Nair.
Bowe, who plays Premier Cricket with Essendon, played nine BBL games for the Melbourne Stars and took eight wickets. His scalps included international players Usman Khawaja, Brendon McCullum and James Vince.
The 22-year-old left-arm leg-spinner had best figures of 2-21.
Bowe is enjoying a fine season with the ball for Essendon.
In first XI and Super Slam T20 matches combined he's taken 22 wickets at a strike rate of 29 and average of 19.
