Eight sheds would be built on farmland on Osborne Road in Barraport, plans lodged with the council's planning department show.
Eight free range broiler sheds would be built on the site if the plan is green-lit, each of which could hold about 50,000 birds.
Poultry would be grown in the sheds for six weeks with a 10 day cleaning phase for each shed.
The sheds would hold a maximum 16.62 birds per square meter.
Each shed would be fully enclosed and climate controlled. The farm would operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
A new residence would also be built to house the farm's manager.
