The warm holiday weather ensured conditions were prime for consecutive days of 100 plus patrons, as the mercury soared.
Golden Square swimming pool president Sam Kane said the recent additions to the facility are a big part of the increased visitation.
"We invested in a new shade cloth to reactivate one side of the pool that was never previously used.
"It has transformed that area of the pool," Mr Kane said.
The number of season memberships purchased is already on track to eclipse last year's tally and offers the best value for regular visitors.
"We have already sold 310 memberships in the past five weeks.
"A membership gives you unlimited access until March, with discounts to fitness classes," Mr Kane said.
In 2013, the City of Greater Bendigo announced that Golden Square pool would be decommissioned at the end of the 2017/18 summer season.
The pool has been dealt numerous lifelines by council in recent times and in February 2018, was granted a two year extension, despite a recommendation to close the pool.
Since its reprieve, the pool always been operated solely by volunteers, with 35 new volunteers joining the ranks for the current season, which is now home to more than 80 volunteers.
A big part of the spike in volunteer numbers has been the pool's Junior Volunteer Team program.
Now in its second year, the program won recognition last month, taking out the state innovation category at the 2019 Volunteering Victoria State Awards.
The program provides volunteering experience to children and young adults.
"Winning that award gave us great confidence in the work that we are doing to bring young people into the organisation," Mr Kane said.
Not resting on its laurels, the pool has recently introduced Zumba classes and yoga sessions. as well as a SwimSafe program for refugee and migrant people, all of which have been well received and highly frequented.
"We are an organisation that isn't just about the swimming pool and we are passionate about community health, all year round," Mr Kane said.
The fun doesn't stop in the new year, with Golden Square pool playing host to a family friendly New Year's Eve party next Tuesday night.
"With music, dinner, lights and lots of fun, this is one of the only family friendly events in Bendigo on New Year's Eve," Mr Kane said.
The event takes place from 5pm, concluding at 9pm.
Golden Square pool is located at 14 Maple Street, Golden Square.
