The Spirit and Adelaide Lightning hit the court for the final match of their three-game series.
Going into the match on the Lightning's home-court, the series was tied at one-all.
After a strong performance from the get go, Adelaide sealed the deal with a 16 point win, final scores 91-75.
Lightning came out firing with 12 points on the board, before the Spirit was able to score.
A nifty steal followed by a lay up from co-captain Kelly Wilson after four minutes of play was Bendigo's first score.
However, it was the Lightning who were ahead come the end of the first quarter, scores 28-15.
Lightning's momentum continued in the second quarter with another 25 points, to the Spirit's 21, which gave Adelaide a 17-point buffer going into the half-time break, scores 53-36.
Spirit showed promising signs in the third quarter with an opening eight-point run to get themselves back in contention.
Come the end of the third, the Spirit trailed by 13 points, scores 68-55.
In the final quarter the Lightning maintained control of the game with a further 23 points, in comparison to the Spirit's 20, to seal the victory.
"Credit to Adelaide they are a good outfit and last year's grand finalist so it was a tough challenge but I was really proud of the girls for sticking in there and it's a credit to them, it's a tough competition but we never gave up despite the 12-0 start by the Lightning," Spirit coach Tracy York said.
The Spirit now has a 2-10 record and remain on the bottom of the ladder.
Spirit's Carley Ernst top scored for the team with 21 points, nine rebounds, one steal and two blocks.
York praised the effort of vice-captain Ernst.
"She responded really well to not starting and played with that aggression that we love from her, I was really happy with her performance today," she said.
It was the first match after the announcement that import Becca Tobin had been released from her contract after two seasons with the team.
Spirit's next game will be at the Bendigo Stadium against Sydney Uni Flames on Thursday December 19, tip off at 7pm.
