MORE CRICKET - White Hills on a roll; Hamblin leads Roos to victory
A SWASHBUCKLING century from opener Matt Giri propelled Arnold to victory over Kingower in the Upper Loddon Cricket Association on Saturday.
The hard-hitting Giri played a lone hand, belting 138 out of Arnold's 9-197 in reply to Kingower's 7-158.
Giri's 138 - his second ton in a row after making 112 against Serpentine last week - came off just 80 balls in an Arnold innings where only two other players reached double figures: Daniel Mason (17) and captain Michael Dale (11).
Earlier, the Kingower pair of Jake Thrum (54) and Jayden Leach (50) both made half-centuries, while Arnold's Ryan Metelmann (5-16) continued his solid season with the ball, taking five wickets.
* Seven Serpentine players took a wicket in its win over Boort-Yando.
Serpentine restricted Boort-Yando to 9-96 off its 35 overs.
Drew Crilly began his innings with Boort-Yando 3-19 and batted through until the end to finish 34 n.o.
Serpentine passed its target seven wickets down on the way to posting 144.
Harry Gadsden (20), Justin Laird (22), captain Jayden Baber (26) and Frasier Holland (21) all got starts for Serpentine before getting out in the 20s.
As well as top scoring earlier for Boort-Yando, Crilly was also his side's best with the ball, taking 3-18 off seven overs.
* Top side Newbridge (8-215) beat Wedderburn (139).
The ULCA season will break over Christmas/New Year before resuming with round 11 on January 11.
NORTHERN UNITED
Colbinabbin cracked its highest score for four seasons in a 151-run win over Calivil in the Northern United Cricket Association.
Batting first the Ducks compiled 6-219 off their 40 overs - their highest score since making 247 against Calivil in round seven of 2015-16.
Opening batsman Hamish Hooppell went one better than his 73 of last week, scoring 74 with he and captain Daniel Morgan (54) putting on 131 for the first wicket.
Lachlan Ralphs jagged 3-43 for Calivil, including the wicket of Hooppell.
Calivil was restricted to 9-68 in reply having been immediately on the backfoot early at 2-3.
Brad Stewart's 3-7 were Colbinabbin's best figures.
* Heathcote defeated Goornong by seven wickets to win its fourth game in a row.
Heathcote answered Goornong's 118 with 3-121, reaching its target in the 28th over.
* Top side Elmore successfully chased down Bagshot's tally to win by four wickets.
From 3-21 early Bagshot batted out its 40 overs to post 8-125, with Kym Wheelhouse (25) top-scoring.
Bagshot gave itself a sniff of defending its score when it had Elmore 5-87 in reply, but the Redbacks, led by 28 n.o. from Bailey Boyack, worked their way to 6-126 to prevail with 15 overs and four wickets still up their sleeve.
