THERE'S a new night for the upcoming Bendigo Pacing Cup, as well as a new major sponsor backing the event.
The Bendigo Harness Racing Club's marquee event of the year is switching from its traditional Saturday to a Friday early in the new year.
The 2020 Bendigo Pacing Cup will be held on Friday, January 3, at Lord's Raceway.
"We don't see this date change as a negative. With several thousand visitors staying in town to attend the Red Hot Summer Tour event at the Bendigo Racecourse on Saturday, we are looking to take advantage of the increased numbers in Bendigo," BHRC chief executive officer Erik Hendrix said.
Along with the change of nights, the BHRC has also secured Garrard's Horse and Hound as its major cup night sponsor.
"Opportunities like this don't come around often, so when Erik approached us to take over as the new major sponsor of the Pacing Cup we felt it was a great fit for our brand and on-course business," Garrard's Horse and Hound chief executive officer Daren Garrard said.
As well as the running of the Bendigo Pacing Cup, the night will also feature the Group 1 Aldebaran Park Maori Mile.
Entertainment off the track will featured kids activities including laser tag, a jumping castle and water slide, face painting, hero horses, live music and food trucks.
