READ MORE - Last weekend's EVCA wrap
WITH 198 across stints at Emu Creek and Sedgwick, all-rounder Simon Marwood has been the most prolific wicket-taker in the Emu Valley Cricket Association over the past decade.
Taking in the 10 seasons from 2009-10 to 2018-19, Marwood's tally of 198 wickets featured 169 at Emu Creek and 29 with Sedgwick.
More than half of Marwood's 198 wickets came in a four-season stretch for the Emus between 2013-14 and 2016-17 when he took 33, 31, 21 and 23 - a total of 108.
Second on the list of leading wicket-takers for the decade is California Gully's left-armer Brad Webster, who snared 185.
Sedgwick stalwart Scott McKenzie (155), Marong's Jeremy Ross (152) and West Bendigo's Dion Prange (151) are the only other players for the decade who took at least 150 wickets.
Of players to have taken at least 50 wickets for the decade - of which there are 56 - United's Keiran Nihill had the best average.
Nihill claimed 137 wickets for the Tigers at an average of just 12.79, followed by Spring Gully's Liam Crapper (58 wickets @ 14.66) and Webster (185 wickets @14.85).
Ross' 152 wickets for Marong also came at the tidy average of 15.18.
Also using a minimum of 50 wickets as the benchmark, Mandurang's Rhys Williams had the decade's best strike rate.
Williams, who took 67 scalps for the Rangas, picked up a wicket every 23.01 balls followed by United's Tim Gleeson with a strike rate of 28.67 for his 54 wickets.
And of the 60 players who bowled at least 300 overs for the decade, Marong's Richard Murphy (370 overs) was the most economical with an economy rate of 2.31.
The decade's best bowling performance was delivered by Mandurang's Michael Healy when he produced a haul of 8-59 off 19 overs in a loss against Marong in 2013-14.
Spring Gully's Peter Stepien (8-60) and Sedgwick's Sam Alcock (8-113) also took eight-fors during the decade, while United's Alex Collins and California Gully's Shaun O'Shea shared the most five-wicket hauls with nine.
