Bendigo and 15 other Victorian aerodromes are being checked to ensure instrument procedure flight paths at the aerodromes operate safely.
Aerodrome flight path safety checks must be carried out every three years to maintain a high level of air safety at all aerodromes. The checks will be undertaken between December 2 and December 8.
CASA will use a twin-engine Cessna Conquest aircraft to complete the safety checks within an area up to 35 kilometres from the aerodromes.
Aircraft will fly as low as several hundred feet from the ground and residents may notice uncommon flying patterns as part of the checks.
Low-level flying is an essential part of the safety exercise to ensure obstacles are accurately marked on charts and no new obstacles exist.
Obstacles can include towers, trees, masts or buildings that can be a danger to aircraft.
CASA will also check flight paths at Benalla, Mangalore, Stawell, Horsham, Hamilton, Portland, Warrnambool, Ballarat, Avalon, Point Cook, Tooradin, Moorabbin, Essendon, Melbourne and Mountt Hotham.
Checks will also be carried out at Naracoorte and Mt Gambier in South Australia.
