PLENTY of records were broken in Saturday's fifth round of Athletics Victoria State League at Flack Advisory Bendigo Region headquarters in Flora Hill.

Moama teenager James Bentley blitzed in the first of the 400m heats at the Latrobe University Bendigo athletics complex in Retreat Road.
Bentley's time of 50.92 seconds in the one-lap dash broke the Centre and Residential record of 50.99 for under-16s set by Ben Powell from Bendigo Harriers in October, 2016.
Racing in the famous Two Blue colours of Eaglehawk, Bentley also teamed with Kenan Seebah, Kye Mason and Angus McKindlay to win the 4 x 100m relay in 45.06 seconds.
The Borough's young guns are the new Centre record-holders at under-18 level.
South Bendigo's Jayne Norton broke the Centre and Residential records for the 40-plus javelin.
The in-form athlete achieved a mark of 29.96 metres.
South Bendigo's Jackie Guillou, Debby Kirne, Jennifer Payne and Carol Coad ran the 4 x 100m relay in a slick time of 1:09.89 to set a 50-plus record at Centre and Residential.
University team-mates Tullie Rowe and Andrea Smith broke records in the in the 2000m steeplechase as they cleared the obstacles in the grueling event in 7:12.86 and 9:03.54 to hold the under-16 and 40-plus records respectively.
Track action began with the sprint hurdles.
A star at pole vault and high jump, Kerang's James Woods contested the 110m hurdles.
Racing for South Bendigo, Woods charged to the line in 16.22 seconds.
Also victorious in the hurdles heats were Eaglehawk's David Chisholm and Jorja Peace, 100m; South Bendigo's Mackenzie Southern, 90m; and Preston's Toni Phillips, 80m.
Holder of the Centre record for 100m from under-17 to open level, Eaglehawk's Kye Mason won the first of Saturday's heats in 11.30.
Mason achieved a record-breaking feat of 10.96 in mid-December, 2018.
Fastest in the women's 100m sprint was Abbey Conquer, 13.23, from Bendigo Harriers.
It was a great duel in the 1500m between South Bendigo's Logan Tickell, 4.39, and Bendigo Harriers' Taine Lang, 4:42.
Stars at long jump were Corey Heagney, 6.11m; Angus McKindlay, 5.79m; Sam Storer, 5.22m; and Denise Snyder, 4.95m, all from Eaglehawk.
