BDCA 2010-19 DECADE SERIES
BEN Gunn's tally of 4890 stands clear at the top for most runs in the Bendigo District Cricket Association for the 2010-19 decade.
Gunn played with three clubs during the decade which takes in 2009-10 to 2018-19 - Strathfieldsaye, Bendigo United and Golden Square - with his 4890 runs coming from 128 innings.
Gunn scored 15 centuries for the decade, with his top score a blistering 160 for Strathfieldsaye in a one-day game against Sandhurst at Weeroona Oval in round six of the 2011-12 season.
Gunn surpassed the 500-run mark in a season seven times during the decade, with his most productive summer being his 575 runs for Bendigo United in 2015-16 - a year during which he peeled off three consecutive tons.
Gunn, who also took 127 wickets for the decade, is one of only two players to score more than 4000 runs between 2009-10 and 2018-19.
The other is his former Bendigo United team-mate Heath Behrens.
Behrens, who retired after 2016-17, scored 4095 runs for the decade, including 10 centuries. Those 10 tons for the decade are among a BDCA record 28 across Behrens' whole career.
While Gunn holds the No.1 ranking for most runs for the decade, Behrens has the superior batting average of 46.53 to Gunn's 39.76.
However, for players who have scored at least 1000 runs for the decade, of which 76 qualify, former Bendigo United opener Matt Pinniger boasts the BDCA's best average with 53.85.
Pinniger scored 1831 runs, including five centuries, from 41 innings with seven not outs during the decade.
Four players made at least 30 scores of 50 plus for the decade - Gunn (39), Behrens (33), White Hills' Gavin Bowles (30) and Strathdale's Cameron Taylor (30).
While he doesn't rank among the top 50 for runs, Strathdale's Jacob DeAraugo (No.68) had the decade's most not outs with 38.
A total of 515 players scored at least one first XI run in the decade.
