Bendigo East remains unbeaten in the Bendigo Bowls Division weekend pennant, but Bendigo showed there are chinks in the Beasties' armour.
East defeated Bendigo by 14 shots on Saturday, but the home side did mange to achieve something n other team has done so far this season - win a rink.
Bendigo won two of the four rinks, but it wasn't enough to deny the Beasties a 14/90 to 4/76 victory and top spot on the ladder.
World Singles Champion of Champions victor Lee Schraner didn't have a premiership hangover as he set up Bendigo East's win with a 10-shot victory over Torie Babitsch.
Brad Marron was East's other winner - defeating Mitch Hocking 23-15.
Bendigo skippers Andrew Brown and Lawrence Brooks scored thrilling wins over Marc Smith and Aaron Tomkins respectively.
Brown edged out Smith 23-22, while Brooks wore down Tomkins 22-19.
The upset of the round was at South Bendigo where Golden Square defeated the home side by seven shots.
Winless going into the round, Square only won one rink, but that was enough to secure a 13/98 to 5/91 victory.
Garri Conforti was the hero for Square, defeating Luke Hoskin 31-18.
Square's new skipper Steve Drummond and South's Mitch Sidebottom played out a 25-25 tie.
South Bendigo won the other two rinks, with Liam Crapper too good for Daryl Cheeseman 24-19 and Brad Holland a one-shot winner over Trevor Schill 24-23.
Eaglehawk reminded its rivals of its class with a 51-shot thumping of Castlemaine.
The Hawks won all four rinks convincingly on their way to an 18/126 to 0/75 win.
The closest battle was Simon Carter's 28 to 21 victory over Greg Podesta.
Darren Burgess outclassed Rick Parr 33-19, while Brayden Byrne proved too strong for Rod Phillips 35-18 and Dean Carter defeated Darren Taylor 30-17.
Kangaroo Flat scored a confidence-boosting 36-shot win over Inglewood.
Cameron Wilson's stunning 33-12 demolition of Ian Chamberlain was the highlight of the win for the Roos.
Barry Anset's 28-15 win over Lindsay Kelly and Paul Moller's hard-fought 24-19 win over Daryl Rowley were Flat's other rink victories.
The only good news for Inglewood was Rob Day's 21-18 win over David Keenan.
