A man has admitted to grooming a child under the age of 16 over the internet with the intention of sexually abusing them.
Daniel Charles Edwards, 41, pleaded guilty in the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on Thursday to two counts of using a carriage service to communicate with a person he believed to be under 16 years old, intending to groom that person to engage in sexual activity.
Edwards also pleaded guilty to sending child abuse material to a 14-year-old using an online messaging service and transmitting indecent communications to someone he believed to be under 16 years old.
His offending occurred in April, July and October last year.

Magistrate Sarah Leighfield found there was enough evidence in the police brief to commit Edwards to the County Court.
Edwards will appear in the County Court in Bendigo next March.
His bail was extended with conditions that included he reside at a central Victorian address, not be in the company of a person under 18 without their parent or guardian and not contact a person under the age of 18 unless for a legitimate transaction.
