MARONG has named Bianca Garton as the club's A-grade netball coach for the 2020 season.
Garton played with the team in 2019, impressing in her debut year to convincingly take out the club's best and fairest.
Garton brings a wealth of experience as both a coach and player to the Panthers, with her career starting back as a 9-year-old with Leitchville/Gunbower.
"Netball is something that keeps my mind motivated, it's a challenge both physically and mentally whether you are coaching or playing," Garton said.
Garton also played with Strathfieldsaye from 2015-16 before she took a break in 2017 to have her first child.
In a show of pure determination for the game, Garton returned to the court in 2018 with Moama where the team secured the premiership.
Garton has held an array of coaching and playing roles and is now ready to take it to the next level with the Panthers in 2020.
"I feel as if I have come in at just the right time," Garton said.
"The club has been developing for quite a few years now with a team of girls who are really awesome and keen to learn and improve.
"That will make my job a lot easier, but my biggest challenge as coach will be to build the confidence and self-belief in the team that we can win.
"I hope to be able to bring in some new strategies to improve the way they play, see game-play from a different angle and give them feedback on how we will improve."
The aim is to enhance the team's ability by getting back to the fundamentals of the game.
"I'm going to build on the existing skills and give them a variety of drills to build our game-play success," Garton said.
"But importantly, keep it fun with plenty of team building exercises."
The club's other netball teams will be coached by: B-grade: Alisha Pickering, C-grade: Renee McCaig,C-reserve: Holly Gadsden & Nicole Grant.
The club is holding a meet and greet this Sunday at the Marong Bowls Club from 1pm onward.
The social event is a chance to meet the senior football and netball coaches for 2020
