
Sandhurst premiership player Todd Murphy took two wickets on debut for Victoria second XI on Wednesday.
The off-spinner carried a heavy workload, bowling 28 overs as South Australia made 372 in reply to Victoria's total of 208 at the Junction Oval.
Murphy clean bowled Daniel Drew for 28 and then had Alex Ross caught and bowled for 26.
The St Kilda all-rounder finished with figures of 2-78 off 23 overs.
Former Strathfieldsaye paceman Xavier Crone bowled 24 overs for the Vics for figures of 1-59.
By stumps on day three Victoria were 1-63, still trailing SA by 101 runs with one day remaining.
Former White Hills keeper-batsman Brayden Stepien took three catches in SA's innings and is next to bat for Victoria.
Stepien top-scored with 90 in the first innings.
Victoria second XI's next match is the Twenty20 series from January 20-23. The next four-day game is in early February.
