New father Josh Julius was forced into that move midway through Bendigo Cup day.
However, it wasn't his newborn daughter Frankie who needed settling - it was his Bendigo Cup runner Super Girl.
After Julius' promising filly La Belle Epoque ran a nice fifth in race three, Julius returned to his stables across the road from the course to put Super Girl in the back of his horse truck.
Super Girl had the stable pony for company as Julius "drove around for a bit" to settle his staying mare.
The move worked.
Super Girl produced arguably the best run of her career to finish eighth in the Bendigo Cup - beaten a tick over four lengths by Top of the Range.
Super Girl came from the back of the field and made good late ground to pass a number of more highly-rated opponents.
The lightly-raced mare earned connections $8000 for running eighth.
"It was a super run. She was up in grade and it was a really big step up for her, but she really acquitted herself well,'' Julius said after the Cup.
"I'm excited to get through autumn next preparation and see what she can achieve. Hopefully, we can be back here next year and be a bit more seasoned and, hopefully, we'll be thereabouts.
"To be beaten about four lengths in that grade, coming from where she has this preparation, is a pretty good effort and I'm proud of her."
Super Girl's jockey Damien Thornton was having his first ride on the mare and he was impressed with what he saw.
"She wanted to fight me a little in the run, but I was really happy with the way she finished off.
"I rode her to be strong late in this sort of grade and she did that.
"She's ready to win her right race."
Julius was also pleased with the performance of his other runner earlier in the day.
La Belle Epoque made good ground in the final stages to run fifth in the Rankins Catering Maiden Plate (1400m) beaten less than two lengths.
"We brought her back in distance because she went too hard over the 1600m last start,'' Julius said.
"We were hoping it would be a more truly run race today and letting her settle is the way to ride her.
"Her race smarts are getting there and she's a horse that will win her fair share of races over time."
