It's somewhat fitting that Josh Julius' first Bendigo Cup runner is called Super Girl.

Last Thursday, the Bendigo trainer and his partner Kass welcomed their own Super Girl into the world - a daughter named Frankie Rose.
First-time father combined with his first runner in his home Cup ensured Julius had little sleep this week.
"Parenting is tiring. I might have a sleepless night on Cup eve, but that will be more to do with baby rather than Cup nerves,'' Julius said with a chuckle.
While Julius has spent every minute he could over the past five days with Kass and Frankie, another female will have his full attention at 4pm on Wednesday.
His staying mare Super Girl will provide him with one of his greatest thrills in racing when she runs in the $400,000 Jayco Bendigo Cup (2400m).
"I've had a couple of runners on Cup day, but never a Cup runner, so it's pretty exciting for us,'' Julius said.
"Obviously, Super Girl is a big outsider, but she's been giving a good account of herself in her grade.
"This is a big step up in class, but she's fit and well and I can't really fault her.''
Super Girl is the most inexperienced horse in the Group Three race, but she is developing into a nice stayer.
Last start on Geeleong Cup day she produced a strong finish to narrowly miss out on victory in a restricted 2400m race.
"Her run at Geelong was superb. I thought all the way up the straight she was going to win, but the leader had it too easy in front and it made it too hard for her to run it down,'' he said.
"If she hadn't have got a run in the Bendigo Cup she would have run at Moonee Valley on Friday night in a restricted 2500m race.
"We'll probably look at putting her in the paddock after that. She's been in work a long time this year and we're mindful of that.
"We have a few plans next year that are a bit high and, if we end up there, that will be great."
Julius also has Super Girl's half-sister La Belle Epoque running in race three the Rankins Catering Maiden Plate (1400m).
"Early days I thought she was going to be one of the better horses in my stable,'' he said.
"She was good at Bendigo two starts ago...but last start at Ballarat it was a tricky run race and I don't think the 1600m really suited her.
"She gets a bit stirred up on race day, so we've put ear muffs on to try and dull things down a little bit.
"We've dropped her back to 1400m and we'll ride her quieter than we have the past two runs.
"Hopefully, she'll settle midfield and produce the big finish we know she has."
Julius will be trackside on Wednesday, but what if young Frankie delayed her arrival to Cup day?
"We were confident it wasn't going to happen because Bendigo Cup day was well past Kass' due date, but it was in the back of our minds,'' Julius said.
"If it had have come to that I would have missed the Cup. I'm very lucky that Super Girl's owner Jim Middlemis hasn't minded me not being at the races in recent weeks. He's been very supportive."
