NEWBRIDGE has started its Upper Loddon Cricket Association season in fine style, claiming the scalp of reigning premier Arnold.
Chasing Arnold's 4-128, Newbridge was led to victory by opener Luke Cassells' 91 as the visitors answered with 2-142 off their 35 overs to win by 14 runs on Saturday.
Earlier, opener Ryan Metelmann's 42 was the top score in Arnold's innings after the Redbacks won the toss and batted.

With Roberts bagging 4-5 off five overs, Kingower was routed for just 55 in the 22nd over batting first.
Kingower had been 2-39 before losing 8-16.
As well as Roberts applying the heat to Kingower, Inglewood also had opening bowler Jack McHale claim 3-12 off seven overs.

Inglewood - which was beaten outright by Kingower last time they met - replied with 3-86, with Mal McLean's 39 the top score.

Rohan McHugh (66) and Luke Holt (41) put on 96 for the second wicket, while Wedderburn also got solid middle-order contributions out of Andrew Brett (36) and Sam Barnes (30).
After it won the toss and batted earlier in the day, Boort-Yando capitulated as it lost 7-14, crashing from 3-94 to all out 108.
Opener Daniel Balzer made 50 with his innings lasting until he was the eighth wicket to fall with the score on 99.
As well as his impact with the bat, McHugh also produced Wedderburn's best bowling figures of 3-0 off two overs in what was an impressive all-round start to his season.
* Serpentine recorded an eight-run win over Bridgewater.
Serpentine compiled 122 after winning the toss and batting before restricting Bridgewater to 114.
NORTHERN UNITED
Elmore produced an ominous round one performance with a 179-run thrashing of Goornong in the Northern United Cricket Association.
The Redbacks cracked 7-217 off their 40 overs batting first featuring half-centuries to opener Bailey Boyack (62) and stand-in captain Tyler Oliver (51 n.o.).
And with Joe Harney making 42, those three players all outscored Goornong, which was bundled out for just 38 in 13.2 overs in reply.
Zac Featherby (22) made more than half of Goornong's score, while Hayden Trewick (3-0), James Harney (3-3) and Shivam Goel (2-1) led the rout for Elmore.
