The fuel reduction burn will take place on the Dargile Track in the Heathcote-Graytown National Park, about six kilometres north of Heathcote.
The 172-hectare burn will be completed between Monday, October 14 and Wednesday, October 16 if weather permits.
There may be smoke visible from Heathcote, Costerfield, Mount Camel, and Redcastle until Friday, October 18.
The management authority has advised some roads may be hazardous due to low viability from smoke.
There may also be signs in place to slow down.
Access to walking tracks, car parks, camping grounds and picnic sites close to the planned burn may also be restricted.
The management authority has encouraged residents in Heathcote and surrounding towns to stay informed about the controlled burn at plannedburns.ffm.vic.gov.au
