The Bulldogs' hall of famer and and current club director of football has seen his daughter, Isabella, become the first ever 'father-daughter' selection in the AFLW.
Isabella, a year 12 student at Caulfield Grammar, joins the Bulldogs AFLW side as a 175 centimetre key forward.
Speaking to AFLW Media, Isabella said she didn't remember much of her father's career while it was happening.
"Dad retired when I was in prep, so I didn't really know much about his career," she said.
"But I definitely remember being in the changerooms and running out onto the ground for his 300th match.
"I was in his arms, bawling my eyes out, I couldn't deal with the noise. That's my only memory of his career, absolutely hating it."
Chris Grant was drafted from Daylesford when as the Demons they were playing in the Ballarat Foothall League.
Footscray used pick 105 in the 1988 national draft, with Grant making his senior debut as a 17-year-old in 1990.
He went on to play 341 games in 18 seasons - then a club record.
Grant was named in the Footscray-Western Bulldogs "Team of the Century" and is now the club's director of football.
He twice went close to becoming a Brownlow Medallist.
He was second by one vote in 1996 and a year later polled the most votes but was deemed ineligible to win owing to being suspended.
