Bendigo Spirit coach Tracy York, who is also the coach of the girl's team for the 2019 Asia Championships, believed Piper Dunlop and Dyson Daniels were both "talented" players.
"Their selection is fantastic for the Bendigo basketball community," York said.
"To have two players who have come through the Bendigo basketball pathway and for them to be selected at such a young age definitely shows there's something going right in the system here."
Both players have been involved with the Bendigo Braves basketball program for years.
National representation is not new to Dunlop and Daniels, with both competing at the 2018 Under-15 FIBA Oceania Championships, where the girls and boys teams succeeded in grand final matches.
The girls progressed through the tournament undefeated, and won a gold medal after defeating New Zealand in the final 110-30.
The boys won a hard-fought grand final clash against New Zealand, with seconds left on the clock they took the lead 61-58 and were awarded the gold medal.
One year later their skills continue to develop.
"Piper has done very well, she's such a hard worker and a very talented individual when she's on the court," York said.
"Dyson is such a great talent and the selection for him is great."
Both players were required to undergo a rigorous trial process at the Basketball Centre of Excellence in order to be selected for the team.
"It was a very tough selection process and a lot of players missed out," York said.
"For the players who wear the green and gold, it's a very special honour and not something they take lightly."
No dates or venue have been announced for the Asia Championships.
