Playground Tales, a four-part series from students in years four to six at Winters Flat Primary School, explores at a range of issues from hypnotising parents to climate change.
"It is really interesting to hear the way they think about the world," audio producer and workshop facilitator Anne-Marie Middlemast said.
"It's not often that you get an opportunity to hear what kids in years four, five and six think about unless you have them in your life. They are so honest and hopeful. They just have this infectious energy."
Ms Middlemast, who is a radio and podcast producer based in Castlemaine, spent two hours a week teaching and working with the students throughout term two.
The idea for the project has always been in her mind.
"It's a passion project," Ms Middlemast said. "I have wanted to work with kids ever since I had my own child.
"I just realised how funny they were and the sort of things they said - there's no filter on them.
"And given my work in audio, I felt the need to share those skills as well as get some experience working with kids."
Winters Flat Primary School Principal Suzanne Kinnersley said the students' response to the program has been fantastic.
"Each week, students reflect on their learning and the response to the podcast program during their reflections was overwhelmingly positive," Ms Kinnersley said.
"Students really engaged with the workshop program, and had a lot of fun interviewing one another, and thinking more deeply about how podcasts can be used for storytelling."
Ms Middlemast said most students learnt a new skill in the term-long project.
"I've had the teachers say to me that even students who maybe weren't the most academically minded performed really well in the workshops," she said.
"It's a little bit like cooking. You don't need to be academically suited to do well and have fun. It's nice to have the opportunity there for those kids."
Playground Tales is available to download or stream on most podcast platforms.
