MAIDEN Gully YCW-Sandhurst's under-13 girls football team will take to the field in this weekend's grand final featuring five sets of sisters.
The team will play White Hills at Strathfieldsaye's Enterprise Oval for the inaugural BJFL under-13 girls premiership.
With a struggle for numbers, Maiden Gully YCW and Sandhurst banded together to form the team, which would have been all the more harder had there not been five sets of sisters that will make up half of the grand final side.
Among the team of 20 are siblings Tanisha and Shanae Daly; Ava and Lily Franklin; Macey and Matilda McGurk; Tasheeka and Kayah Hilson; and Jasmine and Emily Scarff.
The team is coached by Steve McGurk.
"They have been a great group of girls to coach and they have all worked really hard this year," McGurk said on Wednesday.
"Numbers are hard to come by and the younger sisters could have all played under-12s, but they have stepped up to the under-13s and done really well.
"It's obviously great for the sisters to play alongside each other and it's going to be really exciting for the parents to watch two daughters playing in a grand final."
The BJFL under-13 girls grand final will be played from noon on Sunday.
