More than 31,000 mountain bike riders have used the La Larr Ba Gauwa Park since it opened in eighteen months ago. About 40 per cent of riders came from Melbourne, while 20 per cent came from Bendigo.
Projections suggested 25,000 people would use the park in its first year open. It was predicted to attract 100,000 visitors per year within five years.
More than $700,000 has been spent in Harcourt, according to a report into the park's economic effect.
Harcourt has been designated a growth area in the Mount Alexander Shire area.
