Bendigo Beer committee member Ben Van Dillen said the event sold more than 40 per cent of its 2100 tickets to people from outside the city.
The event was buzzing, as the independent beer crowd enjoyed a drink in one of 11 venues on Saturday afternoon.
The event sold out in just 24 days, in its sixth year on the Bendigo's circuit.
Mr Van Dillen said the city had turned on the weather, with a beautiful day for people to see the city and taste beer.
"The whole purpose of Bendigo on the hop is to showcase great Australian beer, and showcase the City of Greater Bendigo at the same time," Mr Van Dillen said.
"People are loving the day, and it's relaxed. It's a very chill day, there's some great music, there's some great food, it's just a really fun event to be part of."
Mr Van Dillen said the Bendigo Beer's purpose was to try and promote independent beer in Bendigo, with the aim of promoting a good responsible beer drinking culture.
"Over the last eight years it's been working really well," Mr Van Dillen said.
"Bendigo now, for a lot of brewers that are here, is the biggest market for independent beer outside of Melbourne in Victoria."
