A 40-year-old Bendigo man has been charged after an alleged armed robbery in White Hills on Saturday morning.
The man has been charged with armed robbery and remanded to appear before the Bendigo Magistrates' Court on September 2.
11.50am:
It's believed a man came into Richardson's Bakery and slammed a brick on the counter, demanding money in the till during an alleged armed robbery in White Hills on Saturday.
Bakery staff allege the man threatened to smash in the head of the staff member present.
A man was arrested at about 8am, after the alleged robbery at 7.45am.
OTHER NEWS:
Just one staff member was there at the time, and one customer.
Staff say the staff member present gave the alleged offender the money in the till, about $100.
The did not believe the staff member present had ever seen the alleged offender before.
The staff member present during the alleged robbery had gone home, but the bakery will remain open for its normal hours today.
Earlier:
Bendigo police have arrested a man after an alleged armed robbery at a bakery in White Hills, Bendigo, on Saturday morning.
Police were called to the Napier Street premises just before 8am after a man allegedly threatened the male staff member with a weapon.
He allegedly fled with cash before being arrested a short distance down Napier Street.
The 40-year-old Bendigo man is assisting police with their enquiries.
