The Children's Book Council of Australia brings children and books together every year, hosting various book-themed activities and encouraging children to take an interest in reading.
Girton Grammar Junior School students and teachers enjoyed their annual celebrations with a parade and by dressing up as their favourite book characters.
Eaglehawk North Primary School also celebrated the day with many of their students dressing up and enjoying the Book Week parade.
St Kilian's Primary School students were lucky to enjoy a parade in the sunshine on Thursday, with parents and friends watching on.
Kennington Primary School also celebrated Book Week with students dressing as their favourite characters.
This year Book Week is celebrated from August 17 to August 23.
