THE Bendigo Pioneers will be hunting their fifth win of the NAB League season at home against the Calder Cannons on Sunday.
The Pioneers (4-7) have won two of their past three games, including producing their best defensive effort since 2003 in holding Tasmania to a score of just 37 in their 29-point win over the Devils last round.
Strong defence has been one of the key pillars for the Pioneers, who have conceded just 15 goals in their past three games.
"Our backline has revolved around guys like James Schischka, Will Wallace and Ben Worme. This week though Will will play forward, which is a great opportunity for him," Pioneers coach Rick Coburn said.
"That will be a big challenge for the rest of the backline boys such as Sean O'Farrell to pick up the slack."
Sunday's game at the QEO starts at 1pm.

BENDIGO THUNDER
WITH their first win of the season under their belts, the Bendigo Thunder are back on the road again to play Darebin in the Northern Football League Women's competition on Sunday.
The Thunder had a mid-season boost last week with their 12-point victory over West Preston-Lakeside and will be aiming to build on that positive result against the Falcons.
The Falcons (8-2) defeated the Thunder (1-8) by 48 points in their previous meeting three weeks ago.
