BENDIGO'S Caitlin Thwaites has starred for Australia as the Diamonds completed a clean sweep of its preliminary Netball World Cup group matches with a tournament-high 99-24 win over Sri Lanka.
Thwaites finished with 67 goals, from 68 attempts, as Australia collected its third win of the tournament in Liverpool, England, after earlier wins over Northern Ireland and Zimbabwe.
The Melbourne Vixens star set the tone for a dominant Diamonds performance, scoring 13 times in the opening 15 minutes.
She was ably supported by Steph Wood, who finished the term with six goals
Both Thwaites and Wood were rested for Saturday's 73-37 victory over Zimbabwe.
The pair netted 10 unanswered goals in a 27-8 second quarter, to ensure the Diamonds a 47-13 half-time lead.
Thwaites and Wood were able to add 28 goals in the third quarter and a further 24 in the final term, including the last 19 of the match, as the Diamonds fell just one goal shy of cracking the ton.
The goaling combination was among five changes from the Zimbabwe game, as coach Lisa Alexander continued to experiment with her 12-player squad.
Australia join England and New Zealand as already confirmed group winners along with South Africa, who beat second-ranked Jamaica to top Group C.
