The taskforce has launched an online survey, ahead of community forums, to assist with developing a new roadmap for policy making.
"The survey will help us try to understand and take the pulse of the community around issues of renewable energy," taskforce chair John McLinden said.
"We want to hear if the community has any issues with renewable electricity generation facilities and what those issues may be."
There are a number of renewable energy projects already in operation across the Loddon Mallee region.
The Gannawarra Solar Farm, near Kerang, is the largest combined battery and solar power plant in Australia.
But there could be more solar panels in operation in the northern part of the Loddon Mallee region along with wind turbines in the south, Mr McLinden said.
"People have voiced some concern around wind turbines and large solar facilities," Mr McLinden said. "Some also have issues with making sure that agricultural land is protected.
"But generally speaking, there is a strong community desire to use renewable energy."
The region has the opportunity to be at the forefront of renewable energy practices in Australia, Mr McLinden said.
"The Loddon Mallee region could become the clean energy powerhouse generation centre, not only for Victoria but in fact for south east Australia," he said.
"But the community's concerns are diverse and different. It's never good to assume, so that's why we're asking."
Over the next few months, there will be a series of workshops across the region. The first one will be in Bendigo on August 6.
Mr McLinden has encouraged people to come along to the forums to have their say or to fill in the online survey at engage.vic.gov.au/regional-renewable-energy-roadmaps/loddon-mallee
