The 23.18 (156) to 5.2 (32) scoreline was the Dragons' highest score of the season and their biggest winning margin.
With percentage potentially critical in the race for the double-chance, Sandhurst lifted its percentage from 128.92 to 146.74.
Just as importantly, star midfielder Andrew Collins got through his first game back from a calf injury.
Collins spent most of his time forward, kicking three goals before being rested for the final quarter and a bit.
The return of Collingwood VFL-listed midfielder Lachlan Tardrew also helped the Dragons.
Tradrew looked a class above his rivals.
Midfielder-forward Jake McLean kicked three goals for the Dragons in another impressive performance, while defender Isaac Ruff and midfielder Nick Stagg continued their strong form.
The Dragons had 11 individual goalkickers, including defender Jake Pallpratt, who snuck forward to kick his first goal of the season.
The Roos need their best players on the park and performing well to be competitive with the top five teams.
With ruckman Nick Lang and key forward Matt Boland on the sidelines injured it was always going to be tough.
Jono Lanyon and Liam Collins saw plenty of the ball again, but unfortunately for the Roos most of their possessions were on the defensive side of the centre.
Andrew Cussen showed some spark in attack, kicking three of their five goals.
Meanwhile, Gisborne held Castlemaine to a record low score in Saturday's round 10 clash at Gardiner Reserve.
Gisborne won 29.20 (194) to 0.1 (1). The Magpies score was the lowest in BFNL records dating back to 1978 and the second time in less than a year the Pies have been kept goalless.
Sandhurst restricted Castlemaine to 0.4 in round 18 last year. Only a miracle goal from Jake O'Brien in round seven this year ensured the Magpies kicked 1.2 against Strathfieldsaye.
North Bendigo kicked 0.2 (2) against South Bendigo in 1995 - the club's final year in the BFNL.
On Saturday, Gisborne star Pat McKenna kicked 11 goals, Jarryd Vernon added six goals, while Ethan Minns and Tim Walsh were superb.
With Angus Monfries out suspended, the Pies had no-one to kick the ball to with confidence forward of centre and the ball lived in Gisborne's front half.
Matt Filo and Dylan Atkins battled against the odds for the Pies.
