Plan for growth?
I was lucky enough to take the first Qantas flight from Bendigo to Sydney. A great service, quick, easy and convenient.

I now have an interest in the Bendigo Airport and the proposed new Terminal. Part of the upgrade would enable proper security screening of passengers and baggage. This would allow direct connections with flights at Sydney Airport, a great time saver. The other supposed benefit is larger aircraft could be used into Bendigo. Regulations require the screening of passengers and their baggage on aircraft that have over 50 passengers. This is where the issue is.
The new runway at Bendigo is 1600 metres long and 30 metres wide and has Pavement Classification Number (PCN) only 19. From my basic understanding, the next biggest plane from Qantas, Dash 8 Q400, with a capacity of just 74 passengers, will be weight limited flying out of Bendigo. The prospect of small regional jet airliners coming to Bendigo would not be possible, the runaway is long and wide enough not strong enough.
Was the current pavement strength part of the original $15M runway project? If so, did Council realise how limiting this will be for the growth of air services out of Bendigo? Finally, is their any plan to increase the pavement strength and what cost?
Hopefully the Council has not been "sold a pup", with the new runway, and we will be able to see bigger planes taking many more locals to more places around Australia, justifying the proposed terminal.

Political woes
Three weeks ago according to Morrison and Freidenberg we were " cruising."
Now the economy is on the floor, all indicators point to that we are on the verge of a recession, which anybody who follows the trends could have picked 6 months ago, with the only thing saving us right now nationally is the price of iron ore.
The AFP have conducted two raids while Morrison and Dutton are overseas, one nearly twelve months after the publication of the article, the other nearly two years, and what does Morrison say, " I know nosing." Freedom of the press, unless it exposes items the LNP does not want the voters of Australia to know about.
Congratulations Australia, this is what the majority of you voted for.

Thanks, Alan
I would sincerely like to thank "Alan" for taking the time to become my elderly mothers Guardian Angel.
Sunday 2nd June my mother absconded ( that's what the staff called it) from her ward at a new multi million dollar refurbished hospital. At 80 years of age on a walking frame in her slippers she managed to exit past an Admin desk in a secure ward down 6 floors via a lift past another Admin desk on the ground floor and out the main entrance .
She was found by a caring considerate member of the public ( Alan ) who managed to make contact with her family and to notify them of her confused state.
God Bless you "Alan". Her family are most grateful.
