The event was launched this week at the new 'festival club' - the Bendigo Bowls Club - in what was an entertaining teaser to what will no doubt be another sensational event for our beautiful city.
During the launch, Bendigo Writers Festival director Rosemary Sorensen so beautifully described the festival, and the thinking behind the theme of 'all that glitters'.
"What is it all about in a nutshell? To return to our theme all that glitters, what's gold, what's important - what's truly the best and most valuable, that's what's real,'' she said.
"And when you bring together so many people to think and talk about books, writing and ideas, what's real and true and vital does shine the brightest.
"Maybe more than ever, it's very hard for human beings, the mad muddled creatures that we are ... to be sincere, to express sincerity well. We see and hear how hard it is all the time, sad stories - we're surrounded by the noise and the clatter of a very word-rich but communication-poor society.
"To get the words right - to find the right words for a vague thought, an uncertainty, an anxiety for a mystery that seems unknowable, that is joyful - and a very important joy for the health of us all and the planet we must share."
