
BENDIGO region harness racing trainers and drivers are continuing to notch up winners at an impressive rate.
A banner week for the region continued at Kilmore on Thursday night, with two trainers and one driver adding to a mounting list of successes.
Elmore trainer Keith Cotchin started the ball rolling when the three-year-old pacer Rossini made it back-to-back wins in the opening race on the program.
The gelding started a $2.30 favourite and always had the race in his control following a dominant front-running drive from Greg Sugars.
The win was the third for Rossini from nine race starts.
Bendigo driver Ellen Tormey continued the momentum by combining with Avenel trainer Wayne Potter to score a win aboard the promising filly Smash It.
The daughter of US sire Sportswriter was making her fifth race start and finished over the top of his six rivals following a smart and patient drive from Tormey to notch her maiden win.
Last to strike was Strathfieldsaye trainer Glenn Douglas, who collected his eighth winner in six days, with stable mainstay Kotare Mahdi.
The seven-year-old picked up career win number 17 from 155 starts, with Monique Burnett in the sulky.
A successful week for Douglas, who is sits third in the state trainers premiership, included a treble at Shepparton on Monday with Speedy Leo, The High Roller and Keayang Sandy.
