After trailing by just two goals at quarter time, the LVFNL conceded 17 goals while only scoring five in the second term to be well behind at half time.
While Horsham District was able to slightly add to its lead in the second half, LVFNL coach Carmen Shevlin praised her players for fighting the game out and keeping the game on relatively even terms.
"Full credit to Horsham District, they were a really strong and even team," she said.
"They really put the foot down in that second quarter to set up a break and we just couldn't get it back.
"The second half was relatively even, but that second quarter we dropped our bundle a bit."
For the second-straight inter-league clash, Mitiamo's Lucy Morcom, who started the game in goals before moving into defence, was awarded the medal as the LVFNL's best.
Her spot in goals was taken by Bridgewater's Carly Scholes, whose high-calibre play and accurate shooting were a feature of a stronger second half for the LVFNL.
Other standouts for Loddon Valley included midcourter Amelia Ludeman and wing defence Anita Dorrington.
"Lucy definitely catches the eye - she's very athletic and agile," Shevlin said.
"You don't often expect the taller players to jump and sprint and do all the things the midcourters do, but she does it all.
"She got plenty of nice turnovers too with her pressure."
"Amelia Ludeman played an awesome game and was brilliant and Anita Dorrington was fantastic as well."
Shevlin, who led the Loddon Valley to a convincing win in last season's match against Golden Rivers, tipped the league would return eager for redemption in 2020.
"Full credit to the girls, they gave it their all and did the league proud," she said.
"They put in a tremendous effort and commitment in travelling that sort of distance.
"They really played as a team too, which is what you want to see as a coach."
Meanwhile, Loddon Valley's 17-and-under team, coached by Karlee Gilmore, came out on top in a high-scoring affair to win 58-54.
Best on court for the LVFNL was goal attack Amy Murfitt (Pyramid Hill).
