A line out the door of the Mitchell Street polling centre wound down to the corner on Friday as people patiently waiting to cast their vote in this year's federal election.
Voters were out in huge numbers during the pre-polling period. Bendigo eclipsed its 2016 pre-polling numbers by 10 per cent with 12,000 more people opting to vote early.
To Thursday evening, 37,196 voters had taken the opportunity to vote early - or 32.97 per cent of the Bendigo electorate's enrolled voters.
In 2016, 24,867 voters (22.69 per cent) turned out early.
One of the difference between the two elections is the inclusion of a Castlemaine pre-polling station. This year 3072 voters have been to the Castlemaine Town Hall to pre-poll.
Bendigo's Mitchell Street polling station has had 20,599 residents in to cast their vote while the Abundant Life Christian Fellowship has seen 13,525 through the door.
Voting opens on Saturday from 8am with polling centres remaining open until 6pm.
