Synchronicity Performing Arts is officially the resident theatre company at Kangaroo Flat's JB Osborne Theatre

The Bendigo-based company is continuing its debut show - The Vicar of Dibley - in the Crusoe College-based theatre this week and already seeing the potential.

Company co-ordinator Wendy Collishaw said having a home base had made a difference to Synchronicity.

"We were sick of not really having a base and always looking for rehearsal venues," she said. "We wanted somewhere to base ourselves and were looking for a bigger space because we wanted to do bigger productions. Small theatre companies (like ours) often have to move around a lot so to have a venue to plonk down in is fabulous."

Mrs Collishaw said the company's first production in the 400-seat JB Osborne Theatre had already been a success.

"If people can see this is a great venue for this sort of activity it might lead to more people using it and more funding (for the theatre)," she said.

Crusoe College principal Brad Madden said it was good to see the theatre being used to its full potential.

"It was in limbo a little bit. It was part of the school about 10 years ago, then the was school knocked down and rebuilt," he said.

"The theatre was set to be part of the demolition but a people requested it wasn't demolished. (But no one) stepped in and managed it. It has taken time to get people with expertise and who want to do some of that work to come in. It's good to see a theatre company in there running shows."

Synchronicity's Vicar of Dibley is on at JB Osborne Theatre in Olympic Parade from 8pm on May 17 and 18 and 2pm on May 19.
