But that has all changed under the leadership of first-year coach Mandy Burrill-Grinton.
Inglewood found glory yesterday with its narrow 38-36 win over Pyramid Hill.
"Without Inglewood having an A-grade last year - and naturally every team likes to win - but my focus has been developing the girls," Burrill-Grinton said.
"I haven't done a massive amount of recruiting but have focused on the girls at the club, to develop them into senior netball players.
"And they certainly displayed it yesterday to come away with the win - it was a close game, pretty much goal-for-goal."
Burrill-Grinton said each week the team had been "closer and closer" to its first win.
"And over the last two weeks we've worked and identified areas we need to work on, so after yesterday we're pretty much there across the court," Burrill-Grinton said.
"Very proud of their efforts and the outcome."
For some of the players it was more than just a win, it was a boost that reassured their confidence and ability as an A-grade netball team.
"At the end of the game there were tears because a lot of them had never experienced a win at Inglewood," Burrill-Grinton said.
In other games, top team Bridgewater defeated BL Serpentine 41-30 to claim an undefeated 5-0 record,.
Maiden Gully YCW had a narrow one-goal win over Calivil United 50-49.
Newbridge defeated Marong 48-31 with both teams staying within the top five on the ladder.
