V/Line announced the extra services today after an estimated 2000 festival goers used the special trains allocated for last year's GTM.
V/Line Area Services Manager Greg Christie said the seven additional special trains would run between Melbourne and Bendigo, stopping at stations along the way.
They include to extra trains leaving Melbourne at 8.40am and 9.40am on Saturday morning. They are expected to arrive in Bendigo at 10.34am and 11.34am respectively.
On the way home extra trains will depart Bendigo at 10pm, 10.27pm, 11pm and 11.40pm arrive in Flinders Street at 12.08am, 12.33am, 1am and 1.44am.
On Sunday an extra morning service from Bendigo will leave at 10.45am, returning to Melbourne at 12.44pm.
Mr Christie said the special trains were on top of the normal scheduled services so there were plenty of options for passengers.
"This is a huge event on Bendigo's social calendar and we want to ensure festival goers have plenty of options when planning their trip," he said.
"Getting to and from Bendigo Station and event will also be made easy, with regular shuttle buses running on the day.
"We've also noticed more and more fans choosing to stay the night in Bendigo and travel back the day after, so we've added another mid-morning Sunday service from Bendigo to Melbourne."
Passengers travelling to the festival need to have a valid myki and need to touch on and off before and after each journey to ensure they pay the correct fare.
Groovin the Moo is at Bendigo's Prince of Wales Showgrounds on Saturday, May 4.
Gates open at 10.30am with the first bands taking to the stage at 11am. The last band finishes at 10.30pm.
