Police have identified the truck driver killed in a rollover at Ravenswood on Monday afternoon as a 53-year-old Nyah West man.
The man's death brings the number of lives lost on Victoria's roads this year to 106, up from 64 at the same time last year.
2.10pm
Bendigo Senior Sergeant Ian Brooks said the truck appeared to have lost control on a bend while travelling south on the Calder Alternative Highway towards the freeway, but it was too early to determine why this happened.
The truck rolled down an embankment about three metres high and landed on its roof, crushing the cabin.
The road will remain closed for several hours.
Senior Sergeant Brooks said police wanted any witnesses or anyone with dash cam footage of the truck about 1pm on the Calder Alternative to come forward.
"The road toll, it continues to climb, despite the best efforts of everyone engaged to bring it down," he said.
