Up to 6000 people turned out for Bendigo's dawn service on Thursday morning.
A crowd also gathered in the city later in the morning to remember the tragic fate of many of the Anzacs.
In Eaglehawk, there was a focus on the toll post-traumatic stress disorder took on service men and women once they had left the battlefield.
And in Castlemaine, people remembered friends they had lost.
In Bendigo on Thursday afternoon there was two-up to be played, and a contentious game this year.
